Income Maximisation Updates – June 2024

10th June 2024

The Welfare Rights & Income Maximisation team will be rolling out a new batch of cost of living workshops across Edinburgh (via PESF funding) and Midlothian (via UKSP funding) over the next few months. This builds on the 24 workshops we delivered last year, which helped clients access over £80,000 in financial gains.

2023/24 was a very busy year for the Income Max team. Here are a few highlights:

  • 289 new clients supported
  • 239 “better off in work” calculations completed
  • Supported clients to claim 136 new benefits they were missing out on
  • Financial gains for clients of over £550,000 – a huge help for people struggling with the continued cost of living pressures.

Employment and Support Allowance claimants to begin migration to Universal Credit in September 24

The DWP have confirmed that they will begin moving income-related ESA claimants and ESA with housing benefit claimants to Universal Credit from September 2024.

All affected claimants will have been issued with migration notices by December 2025, if migrated to UC you are protected by Transitional Protection (making sure your benefit level does not go down after the move to UC).
