Our Neurodiversity Confident Employer Training will help you to develop best practice and create a more inclusive environment for all.
Training with lived experience at its heart
This interactive professional training, developed with a Neurodivergent Advisory Group, has lived experience at its core. It is designed to equip professionals to understand the diverse capabilities and skill-sets neurodivergent people can bring to their workforce, and build confidence in recruiting, retaining, and promoting neurodivergent staff.
Topics we cover:
- What is neurodiversity and neurodivergence
- An overview of different types of neurodivergence: ADHD, autism, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette’s/tic disorders
- Neurodivergent friendly work environment
- Recruitment and induction
- Retention and career progression
- Further resources and information
Who is this training for?
The course is aimed at professionals responsible for managing staff or work environments, or for those wishing to develop good organisational practices. It is suitable for work teams and anyone with an interest in inclusive work practices.
How is this training delivered?
This is a 3-part online course delivered by neurodivergent trainers and consultants interactively to small groups of up to 16 participants. We ask that participants attend all three sessions of the course as these build on one another. We also offer this course in person across one full day or two half days.
We can also deliver this training with an autism focus.

Fiona Clarke
Senior Lived Experience Trainer and Peer Facilitator
About FionaFiona is our Senior Lived Experience Trainer and Peer Facilitator. She brings lived experience of multiple neurodivergences. As well as working with employers, Fiona runs peer led courses at Into Work supporting people to better understand what their neurodivergence means for them and to navigate employment.
Fiona is Vice Chair of Autistic Mutual Aid Society Edinburgh (AMASE) and her wider experience includes being part of the Scottish Government’s Autism Strategy Review Group and working group for the Royal College of Psychiatrist’s “Autism in Adults” (CR 228) guide.
Fiona has a background in banking and finance where she qualified as a chartered accountant, and has worked in the private, public and third sectors.

Louise Stroobant
Lived Experience Trainer and Peer Facilitator
About LouiseLouise is one of our Lived Experience Trainers. She works with employers, employees, and jobseekers. She is also a Peer Facilitator for our peer support courses for autistic people. Supporting people to better understand what being autistic means for them and how to navigate employment.
Louise moved to Scotland in 2019. She used to be a bookseller and ESL High School Teacher in Belgium and France. She joined the third sector upon her arrival in Edinburgh, working in administration and youth work.
Louise has h-Ehlers Danlos and is autistic. She is enthusiastic about lifelong learning and supporting people to reach their own goals.
