Autism Works Associate Trainer (Edinburgh)
Part Time – 6 hours per week
Salary – £23,590.71 (pro rata)
Term – until 31 March 2021 (with the possibility of an extension until 30 Sept. 2021).
Role
We are looking for a talented Associate Trainer with in-depth knowledge and experience of autism, to work alongside our Autism Engagement Coordinator and existing Associate Trainer. We specifically welcome applications for this post from candidates with direct lived experience of autism.
The aim of the post is to improve employers’ knowledge and practice around the recruitment, retention and career development of autistic people. The Autism Works project is funded through the Scottish Government’s Increasing the Understanding of Autism programme, managed by Inspiring Scotland.
Your focus will be to co-deliver our new, in-depth training course: Autism Works! How to be an Autism Confident Employer. You will be responsible for collaboratively adapting and tailoring the training materials and co-delivering the course to a range of employers in the Edinburgh and Lothians area.
What we are looking for in our Associate Trainer:
- Engaging verbal presentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team
- Ability to represent Into Work’s core values to professional audiences from a range of companies and organisations
- Passionate about improving understanding of autism
- Ability to share the needs and experiences of autistic people in the workplace constructively and positively
- Focus on achieving positive outcomes
- Confident using IT to work and co-deliver training remotely from home
- Reliable with good organisational skills
The successful applicant will be working and co-delivering training remotely from home initially. Into Work will supply a laptop but you will need a reliable home broadband connection with reasonable bandwidth. You will also need an appropriate, private workspace from which to deliver professional training without interruption.
We intend to switch to offering face-to-face training sessions to employers once it becomes safe to do so and COVID restrictions have been sufficiently eased. Candidates should therefore be prepared to move from online training delivery to face-to-face delivery with small groups (of up to 16 participants), if this becomes feasible (and desired by employers) within the project timeframe. You would then be based in our offices at Norton Park in Edinburgh.
